A new review of The Palm Tree is in, this time from Hero Hill: “There are so many amazing tracks on this record – the instant catchiness of Mice Eyes, the clap along bounce of Waltz are two - but the fragmented, quirky nature of each song makes every song enjoyable and worth while . . . I don’t think I’ll find a more interesting record for a long time.” link. They have an MP3 of “Mice Eyes” up as well.

Unfortunately, there’s been a delay in the CD shipment, but we’ll have them out by next friday. To ease the pain of waiting, I’ve decided to start crafting handmade CD labels for (take to the skies), sure to be worth zillions of dollars in 50 years. Take a look at a couple of examples here. So to recap, each pre-order of The Palm Tree will get you a custom made (take to the skies), all for just $10.00. Thanks for your patience!

the sky was candy has written some nice things about The Palm Tree: “i guess the reason i can’t stand the radio pop (vs. indie pop) is because there’s no room to do anything a little weird or different when you’ve got to follow a formula. and Chris & Mollie definitely do not- the songs go in weird and crazy directions and you kind of wish you could be in the band too so you could be a part of the fun.” Read the rest here.

The Palm Tree will be ready to ship again on May 4th, and until then we’ve decided to give away a copy of (take to the skies) to anyone who pre-orders it. So what are you waiting for! You can have our discography for around 10.00$ - If I weren’t already in the band I might be tempted. Go to the merch.

Chris and Mollie News - Special Radio Edition - As a lot of you probably know, the RIAA is raising royalty rates for webcasters by a staggering 300% to 500% - effectively shutting most of them down. These on-line radio stations are often the only place smaller bands like us can get heard, and to see them go would be a major blow to independent music. Case in point: “The First Step” has recently been added to the Spacelab Radio playlist! We encourage everyone to sign this petition. Save Internet Radio!

We are sold out of The Palm Tree! To be honest, I wasn’t sure we’d make it even this far, but the response has been positive enough that we are ordering more which should arrive in a couple weeks. There are a few left for sale through CDBABY for $12.00, or you could request us from your local record store (Thank you Carrot Top!). and thank you, kind visitor, for giving some hope and inspiration to a struggling band.

I’m pleased to announce that the good people at Carrot Top Distribution have agreed to carry The Palm Tree, which means that in the coming weeks and months you may be able to find us in your local record shop (help the process along and request us!). In the meantime, there are only 2 copies left for sale directly through our website, so, you know - ACT

Thanks to everyone who has bought The Palm Tree - there are now only 8 left for sale from our original pressing of 100 CD’s. If you want a copy of the original pressing, which includes a pretty embarrasing typo in the lyric sheet that will be corrected in future printings, I’d suggest ordering it soon. Also, for the past couple weeks we’ve been featured as a Cokemachineglow.com “No Big Hair” band. They have a nice review of The Palm Tree up, calling it “one of the most interesting records of the year.” Take a look.

At long last our picture section is up and running - just look under the media box and click on the sail boat. You’ll see us playing live at Edinburgh Castle, as well as some pictures taken by Jason Sussberg while we were practicing at Mollie’s house. A couple other updates - “Head in a Basket” was added to our Mp3’s in the media section and from our last.fm you can stream “The Palm Tree” in its entirety. Speaking of radio, it appears Bagel Radio has added at least one song
from “The Palm Tree” to their playlist last friday - you should listen in.
